“Our boat, “El Gordito”, is a beautiful classic boat, a 12 meters long llaüt with cabin, saloon, kitchen and bathroom. It is a spacious and very comfortable sailboat with everything you need for a fun and unforgettable excursion for up to 9 people plus the professional skipper, Cata.
Sailing on an old Mallorcan-built llaüt is a pleasure only available to a lucky few.
The llaüt “El Gordito” was built around 1900 in the Majorcan town of Portocolom according to the artisan techniques of the “mestres d’aixa”. There, in the saloon, its pine wood with some elements of holm oak were dried in the moonlight for three years before taking shape. A guarantee of stability in their seafaring tasks destined for fishing. At that time, leisure on board a ship was limited to the most exclusive yachts and a few steamers destined for tourist excursions. It is therefore an typical example of a traditional boat whose typology is in slowly dying out.
It has a large deck for sunbathing, a seating area in the cockpit, comfortable sun loungers, and a bathing platform that facilitates access to the sea. It has a galley with refrigerator, oven and stove with all the necessary utensils. It has an aft shower with hot and cold water. We also have on board for our customers to paddle two paddle surf boards, as well as diving masks, so they can enjoy this fun activity to the fullest.
We also have on board a speaker system with Bluetooth connection. And, of course, on the boat are all the necessary safety elements for navigation.
Stefan Hearst has been the person who has made the spectacular tuning of “El Gordito” keeping all the character of this emblematic boat, and to whom I am very grateful to have given me the honor of being able to enjoy it and continue giving it life and sharing it with anyone who is encouraged.
